Harvey came ashore here
On the night of Aug. 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey's center made landfall on the northern end of San Jose Island about 5 nautical miles east of Rockport, with sustained winds of 115 kt, according to the National Hurricane Center. The NHC recorded the highest observed gust, 126 kt, near Rockport, and the lowest pressure on land, 940.8 mb, in Rockport. Its report says wind damage was extreme in Aransas County and nearby counties, with about 15,000 homes destroyed and another 25,000 damaged, and "the city of Rockport hit particularly hard."
In Fulton, Harvey destroyed the Fulton Mansion's chimney and roof, causing water damage inside, and destroyed the town's 1,500-foot fishing pier, which was rebuilt in early 2021.
Years later, the mold question is about repairs: a roof patched in a hurry, or a wall closed up before it fully dried. Most repaired homes have no problem.
